The Truth About Traditional Doggy Daycares

Other Daycares

Pet Oasis

1. Overcrowding
2. Poor communication
3. Lack of transparency
4. Inadequate staffing
5. Unsanitary conditions
6. Lack of safety measures
7. Hidden fees

These are just some of the red flags in the pet daycare industry. Having worked in several doggy daycares, we’ve unfortunately witnessed many of the industry’s bad practices—where profit is often prioritised over genuine care. Problems seem to go in circles, one leading to another, creating a system that fails dogs and their owners.

The truth is, no daycare is ever “too reputable and well-known to be bad for my dog.” Big businesses rely on this belief to maximise profit, often putting welfare second. As a result, they set poor industry standards that many smaller businesses follow, thinking they must compete the same way. In the end, it’s your pet who suffers—spending their days in an overcrowded, stressful environment where they are just another number. Overstimulated and exhausted, they can’t even tell you how their day really was.

We’re here to change that. We challenge these bad practices by doing the exact opposite.

What Sets Us Appart

  • Smaller Groups – Your dog gets more individual attention, ensuring safety and a stress-free environment. Traditional daycares board around 200 dogs per day, we keep our ratio 4:1 dogs per carer

  • Driver = Carer  - Your dog’s driver is also their carer. At other daycares, the driver and carer are often different, which can cause stress and less personalised attention for your dog. Here, your dog spends the entire day with the same trusted people, ensuring consistency and care from those you both know and rely on.

  • Less Travel Time – Reduced numbers mean shorter pick-up and drop-off times, so your dog spends more time playing, not commuting. We are travelling to nearby parks and fields and we keep our travel times up to 1h per day compared to almost 5 hours at traditional daycares

  • Toys & Enrichment – Unlike other daycares, which don’t allow toys to prevent conflicts, we provide safe play with balls, interactive games, and puzzle toys to keep dogs engaged.

  • Comfortable Rest Breaks – Instead of resting in a cold, open field, dogs relax in a cozy, homely setting with soft beds and a calm atmosphere.

  • Flexible & Adaptable – We tailor each day based on the dogs’ energy levels and personalities rather than following a rigid schedule.

  • More Freedom – Dogs have the option for off-lead exploration in safe, secure areas, rather than being restricted to the same enclosed fields.

  • More Socialisation & Bonding – Our small groups allow for deeper friendships and one-on-one attention to help shy or nervous dogs feel more comfortable.

  • Enriched Walks & Mental Stimulation – We don’t just focus on physical exercise; our walks include sniffing adventures, training games, sensory play, and problem-solving activities to keep dogs mentally sharp.

  • Personalised Updates – We send you photos and videos throughout the day so you can see what your dog is up to.

  • Teamwork with Owners – You know your dog best. Open, two-way communication ensures consistency, improves behaviour, and enhances your dog’s overall well-being.

  • Transparent Pricing – No hidden fees, no sudden price changes, no unreasonable notice periods, and no upfront payments. What you see is what you get—fair, honest pricing with no surprises.
